Entergy and Cleco revise usage concerns

Earlier Wednesday afternoon, Lafayette Utilities System (LUS) and SLEMCO issued a press release stating that they, along with Entergy and Cleco, were experiencing heavy demand for electricity that might lead to controlled power outages due to an overloaded electrical grid.

While high summer temperatures are leading to increased electricity usage across south Louisiana, the electrical grid serving Entergy Gulf States Louisiana, L.L.C., Entergy Louisiana, LLC and Cleco Power LLC customers remains in working order. Neither of the Entergy companies or Cleco have plans for controlled power outages at this time.

Summer is usually a time of high energy use as customers run their air conditioners longer to keep their homes and businesses cool.
