SafeLight Update
SafeLight Update

The Director of the Traffic and Transportation Department, Tony Tramel, advises the following three intersections will become active SafeLight locations at 12:00:01 a.m. on Monday, June 1, 2009:

1.      Camellia Boulevard at Kaliste Saloom Road
2.      Camellia Boulevard at Settlers Trace Boulevard
3.      Congress Street at Guilbeau Road

Electronic enforcement of “red light running” and exceeding the established speed limit will commence at that time.  These three locations increase the total number of SafeLight locations from nine to 12. A total of 29 SafeLight locations are planned for the existing 187 Lafayette Consolidated Government signalized intersections.
Motorists are reminded each SafeLight location is also a fixed SafeSpeed location.
Motorists who travel through a SafeLight location and exceed the established speed limit may be issued a notice of civil violation by electronic enforcement equipment as part of SafeSpeed Lafayette.
